español | euskaraz | english

Grounds
  • The borrowing population must appropriate the credit system.
  • The credit must promote collective community initiatives.

Characteristics
  • It intends to provide Communities with a continuing fund to which they may resort in order to undertake economic initiatives and improve their habitat.
  • It is an instrument conceived to foster the economic and social empowerment of women.
  • It is based on the Community itself, through their representatives, knowing the situation of the credit portfolio and participating in the fund allocation and return process.
  • Managerial transparency and accountability throughout the whole process to donors and beneficiaries are features inherent to this credit system.
  • It relies on strengthening the local organisational and financial structures themselves.
  • It has technical assistance to assess:
    • If the proposal is relevant.
    • If the person or group has conditions to make the payment.
  • It is complemented with capacity building actions, leadership promotion, community participation enhancement and defence of Human Rights.

Strategic axis

We have an integral approach which pivots on two axes: the economic axis, connected with the popular economies; and the democratic axis, defined by citizen participation.
The economic axis initially aims at achieving food security, surpluses and trading capacity, a better community organisation and a new role for women. It is developed according to the model of the popular economies, which is based on the concept of individual and social freedom and where ownership adopts different organizational modes such as the cooperative, individual self-management or associations of producing-working people.
The democratic axis is based on citizen participation, the promotion of associative networks and the strengthening of municipal life. This axis rests on the conviction that fragile and uncertain democracies need a structured society, with political response capacity to arrange and solve their conflicts and decide on government alternation. A participatory society built by citizens with pressing and struggling capacity and a critical sense.
