Manifestación en México
  • Transnational enterprises are undertaking megaprojects which affect the biodiversity of the territories and are contrary to food sovereignty, production and fair trade. Lacandona Jungle represents 0,16 % of the national territory, but holds 20 % of the biodiversity of the country.

  • The Mexican government supports the Puebla Panamá Plan, which entails displacements of the indigenous population and an inestimable damage to the environment.

  • Militarisation and paramilitarisation continue to be used as mechanisms to control the indigenous communities of the conflictive areas. They are also used to defend the interests of megaprojects and to control the traffic of immigrants.

  • The Government does not recognise the identity and rights of the Mexican indigenous people. The government has not ratified the San Andrés Agreements, signed with the Zapatista Army of National Liberation and demanded by all the indigenous communities.

  • This situation has sparked off the population's protests, civilian resistance in Chiapas and the reorganisation of the Mexican social movement.
